5 Best Children’s Books for March

As we know, reading books with your child is an important activity that helps with language development. Reading can help increase vocabulary skills, stimulate imagination, and offer opportunities to practice answering questions. Take a look at my previous article for more specific examples on how to increase language with books. Below are the 5 best children’s books for March.

1. Green Eggs and Ham

Read Across America Week takes place the first week of March (March 2nd was Dr. Seuss’ birthday). This book also works for St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th) since it has the green eggs.

2. Kite Day: A Bear and Mole Story

This book is great for the windy days of March. Bear and Mole Stories are very cute with wonderful illustrations.

3. There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover!

What a perfect book to read to your little one for St. Patrick’s Day. This book is based on the classic “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly”. The book is repetitive and great to practice re-telling stories.

4. Ten Little Ladybugs

I love this one! This is a great book to read to get ready for Spring. The book allows your child to touch and feel each ladybug; a great sensory component!

5. The Foot Book

Keep the momentum going for Dr. Seuss’ birthday. This book is wonderful for teaching your child about opposites. After reading the book, see how many opposites your child is able to remember.

Happy reading and happy March!! Please comment below with your favorite children’s book for March.
