The day of love, also known as Valentine’s Day, takes place on February 14th. To get into the Valentine’s Day spirit, it is always fun to read books about the holiday with your child. I am happy to share my favorite children’s books for Valentine’s Day.
As a speech language pathologist, I love to read books about upcoming holidays with my students in order to increase their vocabulary around the topic. I also use books as an opportunity to work on language goals. For example, I ask the child questions about what is happening in the story or I ask the child to label pictures on the pages. After reading the book, I usually ask my students to recall information from the story or to try to retell the story with a beginning, middle, and end.
I hope you are able to incorporate some of these ideas when you read one of these books to your child! Keep reading for the best children’s books for Valentine’s Day.
