After taking some time away from this blog, I would love to start updating this site with the toys, books, games, and activities I have been loving over the past few years. I have been working mostly with preschool-aged children as this is where my passion lies. Below you will find my 5 favorite early language toys for 2025.

5 Best Early Language Toys for 2025

1. BALLOON LAUNCHER

5 best early language toys for 2025

This early language toy has so many opportunities to work on core words and joint attention. If you haven’t seen this toy yet, you connect a balloon to one of the launchers (ex. car, rocketship, astronaut), you then push the air pump to blow up the balloon, once it’s big enough you press the “go” button and watch the object zoom away. Words that I like to focus on when playing with this toy include; go, more, up, on, off, in, big. You can also work on colors by having the child choose which color balloon to use each time.

2. Building Disc Set

I have been loving these little disc manipulatives for my early language clients. I sometimes call them “flowers” or “stars” depending on what sounds my clients are working on. Some words I target while playing with these include; more, go, push, help, off, up. These discs are a little tricky to push together and take apart, which is a great motivator for the child to request for “help”.

3. The Sneaky snacky Squirrel Game

This preschool board game is an excellent choice for early language learners. It is a great game to practice turn-taking and modeling words like; go, up, my turn. I also like to use it when practicing colors and counting. If you have any child working on /s/blends, this game has a ton!

4. Wooden Bus

This wooden bus is great for singing “Wheels on the Bus” during a session. I love that the people can go in through the roof or through the door. Then with a touch of a button, the people can roll out of the bus. Words I target during this activity include; in, out, up, down, open, close, more, go, bus.

5. Animal Set

This animal set is one of my favorite early language toys for 2025. I love the surprise aspect of the child shaking the barn and then opening it up to see which animal is inside. When playing with this toy I focus on animal names, animal sounds, colors, numbers, and core words like; open, close, more, up, down. I also enjoy using these animals when singing “Old McDonald Had a Farm”.
